The Italian Job.

Alex, Wendy and 6 others were now due to be in Barbados to watch William play Cricket for Oundle School on Tour in various locations around Barbados.  William who was taking his GCSE’s this summer,  has been playing Cricket for Northamptonshire for the past 4 years.  In early March the appearance of COVID -19  put paid to the trip fortunately Virgin Atlantic refunded the cancelled flights and the villa owner kindly refunded the villa rental fee.

The monies refunded from the villa have been donated to SIARE ENGINEERING INTERNATIONAL GROUP a company based in Bologna making and supplying ventilators  not only to Italy but to other countries.  Bologna is near Maranello, the home of Ferrari and The Ferrari F1 team. Ferrari have lent their services and are making some of the parts of the new ventilators.   The £10,000 donation made by the de Capell Brookes will mean a ventilator for an Italian hospital we have asked for it to go to Careggi Hospital the largest hospital in Florence where Alex’s mother is originally from and were his parents were married. We have also been asked to name the ventilator as William missed out on his cricket he was given the choice of name and he elected to name it Enzo after Ferrari’s founder.

A second donation of £10,000 will shortly be made to a charity in the Corby area, a charity that is helping people during this time of national crisis.  Further details to follow.

So The Oundle School cricket tour has turned into of the greatest opportunities to help save lives in the race against Covid-19.

Wishing the best of luck for Enzo to make a real difference to to peoples lives.
