On Monday 6th March, Brooke Weston Trust and Northamptonshire Teaching School Hub will host their inaugural school’s safeguarding conference.
The theme for the conference is ‘Rising to the Challenge’ and seeks to respond to the increasingly complex challenges facing Designated Safeguarding Leads working across education, aiming to provide them with the knowledge required to tackle some of the emerging risks facing children and young people.
This event has been generously sponsored by the de Capell Brooke family, Impero, and Northamptonshire School Safeguarding Partnership, enabling the hosts to offer this event free of charge to Northamptonshire schools. Alex de Capell Brooke said:
“It is a great pleasure to sponsor this inaugural Rising to the Challenge Conference.
In the mid-1980s my late father, Hugh de Capell Brooke, was the driving force to bring a new and innovative school to Corby. The Brooke City Technology College, now known as The Brooke Weston Academy, opened its doors in 1991 with a remit from the government of the day to try and find solutions to what were often seen as intractable educational challenges associated with disadvantaged communities.
The world in which we live is an increasingly complex place and being young is not easy. The wellbeing, safety and mental health of our children is our first responsibility and a heavy one to bear for all those involved. By coming together, forming stronger relationships and exchanging ideas we are so much better placed to Rise to the Challenge.
I very much hope that this conference will foreground the importance of supporting all those who are on the frontline working with our young people to keep them safe, supported and healthy.
My best wishes for a successful and enjoyable conference.”
